This is where I live

I treaded carefully across the fish market, my breath seemed to have been taken away by the putrid and repulsive stench of the fish. My eyes started to water in the midst of the second hand cigerrete smoke. I picked the freshest of the fish at the market, choosing carefully in order to prevent angering the loyal customers. Customers were very important, now that the economy of Singapore was increasingly flourishing and adults all prefered supermarkets.

The price of flour, even the prices of Chinese New Year goodies were exorbitant, old geezers like me could afford nothing. The economy was really rising as fast as a rocket, no one wanted to read newspapers when they could read it online. No one wanted to write letters as they could send electronic mail. And no one wanted to come to wet market when they could go to supermarkets which was so much more convenient. Nowadays university degrees were very common, it was a necessity to all who wanted to earn a decent living. Even having one was not an advantage over others. Mega companies such as law firms and coporate firms were rapidly retrenching middle-aged employees and replacing them with fresh graduates. The retirement age was also being set higher, and higher, and higher.
